It's only open until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, so the times I've gone after work it's been locked. I went today on my lunchbreak; unfortunately there were 2 busloads of kindergarten-age children at the park. Eeeugh. At least they weren't in the garden, so while I had to listen to them shrieking and caterwauling, I didn't have to interact with them.
I saw a whopping total of 3 butterflies in the alleged "butterfly garden"... and I'm pretty sure 2 of them were the same butterfly. If it weren't for the "no collecting" sign, I'd have thought it was just a name. Maybe the cold spring has kept them from hatching yet? Or maybe this isn't even the time for them to be doing so; admittedly, I know fuck-all about butterflies.
But it was a pretty garden and I'm glad I went. Too bad it closes so early, it would be a nice place to go and just read a book or something.
Yesterday evening I took my constitutional in Coyote Hills, which is really close to my work, only a couple minutes by car. Good thing, too, because it closes at 7 o'clock and I work until 6 o'clock! Obviously I didn't have a lot of time, so I just strolled out onto the boardwalk that goes into the salt marsh.
It was crazy windy out there. I thought I was going to tumble ass-over-teakettle into the marsh a couple of times and it sounded like there was a freight train going over my head. It smelled and felt great though, and afterwards I felt like I'd been scrubbed clean.
Some very ominous-looking mackerel clouds started to stack up overhead, and it started raining sometime in the night.
